History
Viña La Torina is part of the history of the commune of Pichidegua, in the Libertador General Bernardo O’Higgins Region, and remains in the collective memory of its people thanks to a social commitment that has endured over time. Its origins date back to 1951, when the owners of Hacienda La Torina, among them Teresa Guerra Torro —the first female mayor of the commune (1953–1956) and a descendant of Mateo de Toro y Zambrano—, on the advice of French experts, planted Cabernet Sauvignon vines on the slopes of the Pichidegua hills. Brought specially from Europe, these vines thrived in the area’s distinctive climate, enriched soils, and unique sun exposure.

In 1992, Gonzalo Sánchez Rivas acquired the vineyard, then semi-abandoned, and integrated it into Fundo Santa Carmen de La Torina, thereby continuing the legacy of the original estate. Under the guidance of Ricardo Vial Cox, the vineyard was revitalised and brought into full production, supplying grapes to leading wineries. By 2000, he began exploring the possibility of dedicating part of the harvest to producing his own wine, releasing the first vintage in 2001 under the name Viña La Torina —a tribute to the land to which it belongs.

Vineyards
Located at the foot of Cerro Valdovinos, in the commune of Pichidegua, the vineyards rest on deep, stony soils that allow extensive root development and help increase soil temperature, ensuring excellent Brix accumulation for optimal ripening. They benefit from the area’s characteristic microclimate, which enhances the grapes’ concentration and balance. Varieties planted: Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère.
