History
Nestled in Magdalena Alto, Coelemu, at the heart of the Itata Valley, Viña Terruña carries forward the winemaking legacy of the Arteaga Parra family. The vineyards have been in the family for eight generations and form part of the historic La Magdalena estate —a key winegrowing centre since 1613, when it was managed by Jesuit missionaries.

Today, the estate is led by Alicia Arteaga Parra and her daughter, Katherine Concha Arteaga, whose shared passion is to preserve and honour this remarkable terroir. Guided by a philosophy of harmony with nature —based on observing and understanding its cycles and changes— they craft noble wines from ancestral grape varieties. Every wine is produced according to agroecological principles, reflecting a deep commitment to the environment.

Vineyards
The century-old vineyards are located in Magdalena Alto, Coelemu, in the Itata Valley, at around 300 metres above sea level. Organically farmed and trained as bush vines, they enjoy a Mediterranean climate, with north-west exposure for Cinsault and País and north-east exposure for Muscat of Alexandria and Chasselas. The red clay soils, with their steep slopes, belong to the inland dry-farming zone and benefit from a significant maritime influence, with hydration provided by the Itata River —just 3 kilometres to the north in a straight line— and the Pacific Ocean, only 20 kilometres away.
Planted varieties: País, Cinsault, Muscat of Alexandria, Chasselas.
