History
Viña Polkura stands out for its focus on producing wines that truly matter, aware of the impact of every bottle opened anywhere in the world. Since its establishment in 2002, the winery has been committed to being part of the solution to global issues such as climate change, water scarcity, and biodiversity loss. This commitment is reflected not only in the quality of their wines but also in the responsibility with which they manage every aspect of their production.

The name "Polkura" comes from the Mapudungun language and means "yellow stone," referring to the characteristic yellow granite of the region's soils. Located on the eastern slopes of the Coastal Range in the Colchagua Valley, the vineyard benefits from a moderate climate with notable marine influence. The soils, rich in geological history and composed of granite and clays with traces of volcanic ash, contribute a distinctive minerality and structure to their wines.

From the beginning, Viña Polkura has focused its efforts on the Syrah grape, while also exploring other varieties. Each slope of the Polkura hill offers a unique expression of the terroir, allowing for a diversity of flavours and aromas in their wines. This dedication to capturing the uniqueness of each site results in limited, high-quality productions, exported to America, Europe, and Asia, as well as being available in the Chilean market.

Furthermore, Polkura is committed to the environment. Their motto "Wine with Purpose" motivates them to produce wines sustainably, aiming to take responsibility for the impact that uncorking any of their bottles generates, both in Chile and in the countries to which they export, including Canada, USA, China, Germany, Korea, Hong Kong, Brazil, and Colombia, primarily.

Vineyard
Situated in Marchigüe, in the Colchagua Coastal Valley, the vineyard covers 30 hectares, half of which are planted with Syrah. The soils are very poor and ancient, consisting of decomposed granite and volcanic clay. The climate is Mediterranean with marine influence. The varieties cultivated include Syrah, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache Noir, Tempranillo, Mourvèdre, and Viognier.
