History
Luis Felipe Edwards Winery was founded in 1976 in Puquillay, in the heart of the Colchagua Valley, with a clear vision: to bring the finest quality Chilean wines to the world, allowing the terroir to speak for itself in every bottle. What began with 60 hectares of old vineyards planted in the early 20th century has today grown to over 2,000 hectares across Chile’s leading wine valleys. The winery is now present in more than 100 countries, establishing itself as one of the largest exporters of premium bottled wine in the country.
With nearly five decades of excellence, its winemaking team —currently led by Nicolás Bizzarri and advised by renowned international figures such as Matt Thomson (New Zealand) and Philippe Melka (Napa Valley)— has achieved a consistency in quality that is recognised worldwide. Its wines have earned awards at the most demanding international competitions, and the winery has secured a place among the very best in Chile.
Today, Luis Felipe Edwards is the largest family-owned and family-run winery in the country. Its essence combines innovation, sustainability, and a deep respect for biodiversity. Every bottle reflects its passion, origins, and values.
Vineyards El Canelo – D.O. Leyda Valley
Just 9 km from the Pacific Ocean, this cool-climate vineyard is strongly influenced by the sea, with gentle slopes throughout its perimeter and soils of alluvial origin, clay textures, gravel, and areas with exposed granite rocks. Ideal for producing high-quality grapes, the resulting wines display remarkable minerality and a subtle saline touch.
Planted varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Riesling.
Atalaya – D.O. Santo Domingo, Leyda Valley
Only 2 km from the Pacific coast, in an extremely coastal, cool-climate location, with loamy to clay-loam soils and marine-origin terraces over sandstone and quartz. It has great potential for producing high-quality grapes from cool-climate varieties.

LFE900 – D.O. Colchagua Valley
Among the highest vineyards planted in Colchagua, the LFE900 project is ambitious and unique. Located at 900 metres above sea level, its soils are characterised by a complex geological mix created by granite and volcanic rocks. It was planted with special consideration for the diversity of mountain soils and sun exposures. Lower average temperatures allow the grapes to ripen steadily until full maturity. Acquired in 1976, it covers 140 hectares.
Planted varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Carménère, Garnacha, Malbec, Merlot, Monastrell, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Tempranillo.
La Quesería de Nilahue – D.O. Colchagua Costa
The coastal area of Colchagua offers ideal conditions for producing both white varietals and cool-climate reds. With a Mediterranean climate and fresh sea breezes, controlled ripening is achieved, along with rich granitic soils. The LFE estate is 23 km from the coast. The soils are granitic on the hills and sandy-loam in the sedimentation basin.
Planted varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Pinot Noir, Viognier, Riesling, Roussanne, Gewürztraminer, and Syrah.
