History
The Bauzá family has been dedicated to the production of wines and spirits since their origins on their native island of Mallorca. After the phylloxera infestation in Europe during the 1860s, the family decided to send the eldest son, Lorenzo, to seek his fortune in America. Lorenzo Bauzá began the search for the best soils and climatic conditions to produce grapes and make his own wines and spirits. After exploring Huasco and Elqui, he finally settled in the Limarí Valley, where the high-altitude vineyards allowed him to obtain grapes with unique characteristics.

In 1998, the third generation decided to explore a new terroir, planting a vineyard in the Maipo Valley, focusing on varieties such as Carménère and Syrah. In 2011, they decided to create a wine that faithfully reflected this terroir, with the aim of imprinting a distinctive quality that maintained their legacy. With over 100 years of tradition in Chile, the Bauzá family is recognised to this day for the excellence of their wines and piscos.

Under the guidance of oenologist Natalia Poblete, Casa Bauzá has concentrated its efforts on respectfully interpreting the origin of the varieties they develop in the different valleys. This approach results from a continuous process of testing and trials. To achieve this, they have chosen a path that allows for a more intimate connection between the vineyard and the winery. They predominantly use various types of vessels that capture the expression of the grapes and the terroir more authentically and with minimal intervention. The use of concrete eggs, flexcubes, larger capacity barrels, and foudres allows the variety to always prevail in expressiveness.

Vineyards
El Pelán
Located in Til Til, north of the Maipo Valley, this vineyard has been organic from the start and was planted in three stages (1998, 2002, and 2006). It once had 120 hectares planted but now produces on 30.3 hectares due to the water availability in the valley. Casa Bauzá works the best hectares of Carménère, cultivated with a double cordon trellis system and drip irrigation.

Mariscal
Situated in Maipo Andes, in the Mariscal area, Puente Alto, this vineyard was planted in 2002. It cultivates Cabernet Sauvignon on a bilateral cordon trellis, with spur pruning and a drip irrigation system. The vineyard's north-south orientation with a west-facing slope favours sun exposure and even grape ripening.

Crucesillas
Located in Melozal, Maule, this Carignan vineyard was planted in 1958. It is a dry-farmed vineyard with pure granite soils and clay transitions in the deeper strata. These characteristics allow good root development and adequate water retention, mainly used as a component in wine blends.

Pumanque
In Colchagua Costa, this Cabernet Franc vineyard was planted in 2009. Situated 30 km from the Pacific Ocean, it uses a trellis system and spur pruning with 2 visible buds. The soils are semi-deep granodioritic, with a mix of sandy loam and clay loam soils. The upper strata are rich in quartz, allowing good settling and distribution of new roots, while the deeper strata favour moisture control. It produces the iconic wine Veraz.

Los Maitenes
Located in Santa Cruz, Colchagua, these vineyards planted in 2006 cultivate Syrah and Petit Syrah in semi-deep granodioritic soils. Pruning is spur to one visible bud, resulting in concentrated grapes with good acidity levels. The region's soils and climate contribute to the production of balanced, high-quality wines.
